Konami unveils MGS4 playable at TGS, Wii Fitness

As Joystiq staffers descend upon the great city of Tokyo for the annual Tokyo Game Show, Konami kicks things off blasting out a list of all the games they're showing off at TGS and, we imagine, their press conference scheduled at 3PM Tokyo time (that's 2AM Joystiq time). Tops on that list is undoubtedly Metal Gear Solid 4 which, according to their press release, will be making its playable world premiere. We're already dreading the giant lines of would-be stealth assassins that will no doubt snake around this game's kiosks.

Metal Gear Solid 4 not blowing your skirt up, Nancy? Well, Konami's got you covered. If snapping people's necks isn't your idea of a good time well, we could question your patriotism, or we could point you people towards some of Konami's other offerings. The Big K isn't even ashamed to reveal that they've got a "game" called Wii Fitness (not to be confused with Nintendo's very own Wii Fit), along with some thrilling software like Pilates, Yoga, and Skin Basic for the Nintendo DS. We know some Metal Gear fans that could use all of the above. Check after the break for a full list of Konami's TGS lineup.

Does anyone think it's odd that there's no 360 games on the list (that I see) or is it just because they're in Japan and Japan hates Xbox?

I give it 3 months before WiiFit goes the way of the AbMaster, BunsMaster, AbToner, etc, etc.. people are fat-asses by nature, its hard to mess with inertia.

So is anything GOOD going to be shown at Konami's booth, like a new DS Castlevania or something? Didn't IGA say an announcement for one would be coming soon?

wait, what? Are they allowed to do that? A third-party game with the word "Wii" in the title? Surely, either Nintendo's outsourcing, or there must be a licensing issue going on.

Yeah, I'm wondering that too. I'm pretty sure Nintendo isn't going to be happy at them trying to undermine their own product on their own system.

I'm guessing Nintendo is going to give them a resounding "NO" at being able to release a game with a title like that.

Don't scoff, guys, you know Snake uses Wii Fitness. He's old, which means he'd love the Wii, and he's obviously stayed in shape through the years. I guarantee you it is no accident that they are both on display.

Doesn't seem that japanese game companies are showing less and less original IP's and less stuff for the ps3/x box 360. While american/canadian/euro companies are showing more and more for the xbox360/PS3.

How things change. During PSone it was all japanese and during the early and middle run of the PS2 it was all japan. Now...

I bet that Big Head Baseball will outsell MGS4 in Japan! Don't get me wrong, MGS will do well, but the Japanese really love baseball and there are a lot more Wiis than PS3s in Japan.

It's funny how no one has commented on metal gear except for one person. Playable metal gear solid 4 is a big deal, but i guess people were expecting it.

Can't wait for MGS4 demo on PSN. That alone will be enough to move consoles, I think. I remember people buying ZOE just to play the MGS2 demo.

I'm just disappointed they aren't showing off Silent Hill V, even at least a little bit more..

This gets me thinking about what Wii(fitness) could do to a gaming habit. Imagine if you couldn't play a more 'hardcore' game without unlocking 30min of Wii(Fitness) that day?

Or less tyrannical, if by playing Wii(fitness) for half an hour it would give you power-ups, extra health, etc. for games like Super Smash Bros?
