Super Smash Bros. Brawl features co-op

We had told you previously about The Subspace Emissary, the Super Smash Bros. Brawl new single-player adventure, a recipient of the 2007 "Game Mode that Sounds Most Like A David Bowie Album Title" award. Now, it seems that subspace is not quite as lonely as we thought, as the game's official blog has revealed that The Subspace Emissary will feature co-op play.

It's structured for one player to be lead and for another to be his wingman, his Goose, if you will. The Don Quixote of the duo will lead the movement, and Sancho Panza will have to stay in the boss' screen. There are a few other details about TSE there too, so if you're interested, it's well worth a read.

Its so great to see a game go so above and beyond when it comes to fun features, they could easily have added only a few new characters and stages and people would still have loved it but nintendo seems hellbent on making this one a classic.

You know damn well that Sakurai is the biggest tease on the planet. Who needs to ever buy another game. Brawl is like, everything in one. I was on the fence expecting just Melee with Wii motion flailing, but no, this is way too awesome for its own good.

Personally, I still think they missed out by refusing the name "The Subcon Emissary." Though that would have resulted in expectations of Clawgrip.

Of course, keep in mind that the Cervantes reference might not fit. Panza certainly didn't charge any windmills, and he also didn't bother messing with the lion. He also got the sense to find a wife of his own rather than swoon over a Dulcinea.

Actually the way they describe it, with player 1 being the primary player, and player 2 being able to instant catch up to player 1 if left behind...

I wouldn't say Sonic confirmed (yet), but I think Sonic's definitely getting confirmed the week before the game comes out.

But yes, this is totally Sonic 2 co-op style. Smells like Tails to me.

In Sonic, the character would not immediately warp back, and the second player would usually find themselves very far behind the first. Not only that, but the second player would be just re-appear when he died instead of losing a life.
This system is definitely more like Kirby Superstar due to the characters being more closely tethered together and because the second player can actually lose lives.
