I thought that said Atrocity Golf for a second there and instantly thought "SOLD!" But then I read closer and thought "The best name for a golf game ever goes unused... I guess I can just keep it as a descriptor for Tiger Woods."
Steve @ Oct 13th 2007 4:42PM
Alacrity Golf is MUCH funnier than Atrocity Golf.
"I feel somewhat agitated as I line up this putt. Is it zeal? Is it fervor? No! It is alacrity!"
J.Goodwin @ Oct 13th 2007 1:36PM
I think I'd rather play Vii.
Shagittarius @ Oct 13th 2007 1:40PM
"Torn between purchasing the latest gaming platform and a poor excuse for a gimmick? "
Is this a trick question, I see 2 gimmicks in that picture.
Brennan @ Oct 13th 2007 1:51PM
wtf is ur problem? U know what, get a Wii, get the latest hardcore games if ur into that n come back n tell us ur wrong for accusing Wii being a hardcore failure.
U FAIL!!!
Fatass of Kickassness @ Oct 13th 2007 1:52PM
+1 to Shaggi, I lol'd.
-1 to Brendan for giving us Ninty fans a bad name... or at least making everyone else think we can't use proper grammar for shit.
Warlord @ Oct 13th 2007 1:53PM
Hardcore? Lets see.... We have Metroid and.... um.
barq @ Oct 13th 2007 8:48PM
@brennan friend of mine mistakenly bought one, not worth it. it's purely a gimmick, as is vii. he ic constantly complaining about the lack of grown person games. glad i had 360 before and bought ps3 instead of a wii when they came out. metroid was pretty cool but other than that what is there that is "hardcore"?
Seraphim @ Oct 13th 2007 2:15PM
Funniest thing i've read today!
Matt B @ Oct 13th 2007 2:27PM
+1 Shaggi...LOL!!!
Hirsbrunner @ Oct 13th 2007 2:34PM
The only gimmick I see is Shagittarius. A sad, predictable, attention-starved gimmick.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Oct 13th 2007 3:09PM
honestly shag, I seriously doubt you even know what a Gimmick is.
Trowble @ Oct 13th 2007 3:32PM
Witty yet satisfying comment, good job... haha
Ludwig Kietzmann @ Oct 13th 2007 3:58PM
Good thing the article never specifies which is which.
Moofree @ Oct 13th 2007 3:59PM
Brennan, I think people would listen to you if you spelled out you.
U FAIL!!? No.
YOU fail.
phattie @ Oct 13th 2007 4:16PM
lol, despite sore wii owners keep voting down such comments
Fatass of Kickassness @ Oct 13th 2007 5:07PM
Pay no mind to Phattie, he only wishes he was half the troll you are.
Autopsy15 @ Oct 13th 2007 5:47PM
Well, Shag is definitely half the person that Phattie is. *Bu-Dum-Psh*
Matt B @ Oct 13th 2007 8:35PM
OMG Ludwig!!!!!!
LMAO!!!!!!
Uncontrollably!!!!!!
mr nimblewick (SegaDF - Jogurt Ring) @ Oct 13th 2007 10:14PM
I would have laughed Shag, had it not been completely predictable that one of your sony trolls would come into the thread and say it.
Triforceowner @ Oct 13th 2007 10:15PM
The Wii has what: Paper Mario and Metroid? I love my Nintendo games, but those aren't the games that make me finally purchase a console. Galaxy, Smash, and Zelda might.
JodyAnthony @ Oct 14th 2007 2:41PM
boo to everyone graying this out. shagi wins
warioswoods @ Oct 14th 2007 8:39PM
Wow, several people apparently 'lol'-ing and '+1'-ing what is possibly the most imperceptive, clumsy attempt at a joke I've yet seen on this site. That is truly unfortunate.
Let's see Shag, you clever guy you, how your supposedly hilarious jab missed its target. Oh, perhaps I should begin with the fact that the ambiguity you so boldly believe yourself to have introduced was already written into the article, in its constant suspension of any specific reference as to which console of the two corresponds to the positive remarks and which the negative. In fact, this two paragraph blurb of an article did nothing but make that one joke - Can you discern the gimmick from the quality console? Ha, how hilarious that the author is repeating the now obligatory Wii=gimmick line, but in a surreptitious and playful manner. Unfortunately Joystiq's articles often contribute to the longevity of this kind of remark, as can be seen from their repeated references to two Gamecubes duct-taped together. Even if done in the safety of a joke, bringing that back over and over again in any form gives it unnecessary currency.
But luckily we have you to come in and make the obvious jokes so much more painfully obvious and humorless. Where would we be without you?
Shagittarius @ Oct 14th 2007 9:03PM
@Warioswoods
Its all true.
upz @ Oct 15th 2007 10:22AM
What's also funny is that various posts on the original Chinese article poke fun at how the Wii is only for the "under 7 and over 65" demographic. Good to know that the harcore gamer's perception of him/herself is the same in every language.
exit stencil @ Oct 15th 2007 1:02PM
Made me laugh to beat the band.
Brennan @ Oct 13th 2007 1:45PM
Next: gimmick lawsuit in the making. Exlusive from China!
badarsemother3k @ Oct 13th 2007 1:46PM
OMG It comes with free crap! Check out the last pic.
Warlord @ Oct 13th 2007 1:51PM
Ok, who's joke is this?
Mal F4cti0n @ Oct 13th 2007 1:50PM
"come on free craps"
Sounds like a dirty porn movie.
I think my favorite game would be Fry Egg. I wonder what the game is? I mean, I can't tell with a name like that. Am I supposed to battle some evil wizard or something?
Seriously though, I wonder if that game consists of frying an egg over and over again. Those crazy Chinese gamers, what will they come up with next?
Chrispy @ Oct 13th 2007 1:56PM
Is this one of those spot the difference games?
Paul Gale @ Oct 13th 2007 1:57PM
Wow, there's such a thing as imitation, and then there's this. Vii takes things to a whole new level, that's for sure. I wonder what Nintendo thinks of this Wii knock off.
DonWii @ Oct 13th 2007 2:09PM
1. Lawsuit
2. ???
3. Profit
barq @ Oct 13th 2007 8:48PM
i think the graphics for the vii is better, probably cheaper too.
EihBeir @ Oct 13th 2007 2:18PM
Say what you will about the Vii, but it's winning the battles of "Arms and Legs"
Hearts and Minds though, I think still goes to the Wii
Seraphim @ Oct 13th 2007 2:27PM
THIS IS CHINA!!!!!!
Matt B @ Oct 13th 2007 2:28PM
THe Vii is just 2 Neo-Geos duct taped together.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Oct 13th 2007 3:10PM
I hate you, but I'll give you that. That was pretty good.
skunkworks @ Oct 13th 2007 3:19PM
2 neo geos duct taped together would be more powerful then the Wii. hell 2 Neo Geos duct taped together may become sentient and take over the world. and don't even think about the world shattering power that is 2 dreamcasts duct taped together.
Zak Canard @ Oct 13th 2007 4:22PM
It can't be two Neo Geos duct taped together, that would put it in the vague price range of "having to take out a second mortgage"
Autopsy15 @ Oct 13th 2007 5:55PM
Do you think if you duct taped 2 Virtual Boys together people would go blind?
Oscar @ Oct 13th 2007 7:11PM
No, no, no. 2 POPstations duct-taped together.
Or most likely 2 Neo Double Game's stuck together http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow9SHsnFG2U
Korova @ Oct 13th 2007 2:29PM
There are a billion chinese. Nintendo will never be able to produce enough Wii's for them all. So, short of Japan starting a thermonuclear war with China (which I am sure Nintendo is lobbying for) Vi is gonna sell and well, albeit in china only. IP rights FTL, unfortunately.
ReverendGadgetBoy @ Oct 13th 2007 5:18PM
because of course each one of the billion chinese want their own wii.
hydralisk456 @ Oct 13th 2007 8:57PM
... or have electricity
Fatass of Kickassness @ Oct 13th 2007 10:13PM
W-Wow. Hydralisk, ...wow.
Are you really that stupid?
...wow.
What happened to us Americans actually being well informed of other cultures?
mr nimblewick (SegaDF - Jogurt Ring) @ Oct 13th 2007 10:16PM
"What happened to us Americans actually being well informed of other cultures?" When was this ever the case?
klitorisaurus @ Oct 14th 2007 12:45AM
Actually Fatass, it seems you are the arrogant one.
"China has more than 10 million people who still don't have electricity. In rural areas, many children have never seen an electric light."
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=9947668
BPM (FDF - Hypno-Toad) @ Oct 14th 2007 1:40AM
If about 10 million don't have electricity, then that means about 990 million do. That's about one percent of the Chinese population.
... Just throwing out numbers.
Benny @ Oct 14th 2007 9:06AM
Whether it's 1% or 10%, 10 million people is a hell of a lot.
