WiiWare Final Fantasy due March 2008 in Japan
Japan's weekly Famitsu magazine has divulged more details about Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Little King and the Promise Country, the new Final Fantasy title recently revealed for Nintendo's online distribution channel Wii Ware. According to 1UP, the article reveals the game to take place after the Gamecube original, with the main character as the Little King, whose task is to create towns in order to populate a barren land with a new country. The Little
Famitsu reports that the game has a March 2008 release date in Japan, and will be priced at 1,500 Wii points (Or $15 USD). Now, given that we haven't heard anything from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers -- the other new Crystal Chronicles Wii game -- in quite some time, are we to assume that this game is an entirely separate venture, or simply Crystal Bearers reborn as DLC? Talk amongst yourselves.

I'm buying this.
Was the other CC game supposed to have online multiplayer?
phattie @ Oct 17th 2007 3:43PM
Sounds like they are going to reuse GC assets to speed up development... and, it will be interesting to see how they fit this in 512mb of space, maybe they'll go back to midi music.
mr nimblewick (SegaDF - Jogurt Ring) @ Oct 17th 2007 3:47PM
MIDI rocked in FFVII.
megaStryke @ Oct 17th 2007 3:53PM
I don't know. Let's ask Microsoft how they fit XBLA titles under 150 MB.

Repent!

Think of all the SD manufacturers who are going to love Nintendo for this!
Joshua @ Oct 17th 2007 4:24PM
Did they not use MIDIs in FF:CC for GCN? I know Nintendo uses MIDIs for almost all of their games...
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Oct 17th 2007 4:42PM
dude Midis are fucking awesome. I mean I'd rather listen to a Midi then generic dramatic orchestra music.
bm @ Oct 17th 2007 7:54PM
Hahaha fattie you retard, about 90% of the music in all games you've been playing that you thought was redbook audio, was most likely "midi" as you call it and you didn't even know. Though "midi" is a dumb and incorrect description, but whatever helps you understand.
blooh (CDF - Nipple Ring) @ Oct 17th 2007 3:43PM
still no usb hard drive functionality?
megaStryke @ Oct 17th 2007 3:54PM
Use your imagination.
mr nimblewick (SegaDF - Jogurt Ring) @ Oct 17th 2007 3:57PM
My imagination is only 64 MB.
kennethrios @ Oct 17th 2007 4:06PM
Not enough Muppet Babies
bm @ Oct 17th 2007 7:56PM
They'll do harddrive support. It's inevitable, with Wiiware going the way it's going. I SENSE IT. Either that, or support running software directly off the SD card. That would be fine too.
NATO_Duke @ Oct 17th 2007 3:54PM
Meh, no news on a US release date.
phattie @ Oct 17th 2007 4:14PM
News is that NA gets a mulitplayer bubble popping game... lol.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Oct 17th 2007 4:43PM
And your point? Some of the best games that have come out this have extremely simple ideas.
bm @ Oct 17th 2007 7:57PM
lol hey remember that block stacking game you guys
it was just blocks that was retarded lol
Max @ Oct 17th 2007 4:05PM

hmm, Square Enix takes on the economics-strategy genre (after the turn-based strategy they built in Tactics)
I think it looks good so far, but a bit hazy
Its good to see WiiWare finally getting realized, that's for sure
idioteraser @ Oct 17th 2007 4:21PM
This isn't an action game. It's completly sim.
Crystal Bearers is still coming. Square is keeping a lot of their wii stuff still under wraps. Weeks prior to release everything comes out.
Crystal Bearers last info was that it was a single player expierence. You want multi get the DS Crystal Chronicles game.
NATO_Duke @ Oct 17th 2007 4:34PM
Are these facts or opinions?
John H. @ Oct 17th 2007 5:14PM
How the heck are they going to do this?
They've answered the question of how Turbo CD games will fit in the Wii's system memory (by compressing the audio, duh), but it's not so easy to further compress textures.
The Wii contains 512MB of flash memory, and isn't around half of that reserved for system use? Even if they can squeeze a fully 3D, modern-looking game into that size (and if they don't there'll probably be at least SOME reviewers out there ready to complain about it), there's not going to be a lot of room for much else on there at the same time.
C'mon Nintendo, let us play the damn things off a SD card or USB drive! We can get flash drives now that are four times the size of the Wii's system memory for only $30, easy! For most of the Gamecube's life that's how much those damn 256-block memory cards cost! If Nintendo would only do that, it'd suddenly look as if they made a brilliantly foresighted design decision by only including half a gigabyte of flash in the system instead of a full hard drive.
Admiral_Mike @ Oct 17th 2007 5:46PM
I fully expect them to either announce a usb hard drive, or a firmware update to allow for them. This wiiware service would be damn near impossible without it.
Mr Khan @ Oct 17th 2007 5:49PM
Especially considering that other things are coming down the pipe that definitely need more space, like Civ Revolution DLC and, like you're saying, these bigger Wiiware titles
You're also right, for purposes of space you can use, Wii only has around 270 MB of on-board storage, the other 240 is for the Firmware
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 17th 2007 8:41PM
Iwata said in his keynote that this game is definitely separate from the Crystal Bearers. I assume that game will be bigger, more expensive, and not about nation-building, and perhaps not based on online play, since you won't need the internet to walk into a store and buy it.
Slvrgun @ Oct 17th 2007 10:55PM
Xbox 360 strong lineup of games reminds me that they are superior to Wii or PS3 titles.
shivr @ Oct 18th 2007 12:37AM
phew, that was close. Random mention of other consoles almost didn't make it onto the first page of comments. Keep up the good work guys
blooh (CDF - Nipple Ring) @ Oct 17th 2007 11:27PM
it's gay that square boycotts the 360
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 18th 2007 1:23AM
Square's based in Japan, so they don't even know what the 360 is.
blooh (CDF - Nipple Ring) @ Oct 18th 2007 1:35AM
i know, those japs are hardcore fanboys
