Slash & Poison launch Guitar Hero III in Los Angeles

However, proving that every rose does indeed have its thorn, the upstairs roof-raising party wasn't open to the general public. So while the masses waited below to buy their copies at midnight, the red carpet and velvet rope brigade partied upstairs on sushi, BBQ, and Red Bull. Just like the real rock and roll world.
Check out video from the event after the jump, along with some sneak peeks from our gallery. So, how many of you picked up a copy on Sunday?
Here are some images for you looky loos. Check out the video down below and prepare to rawk.

The waiting is the hardest part ...

Local rockers LAX Gurlz were present to kick out the jamz.

Custom faceplates, key fobs, and other gear for your guitars.

The party scene, complete with massive domes under the night sky.

Seven custom-made Gibson guitars. Swanky.

The goods, under the watchful eye of khakied and blue-shirted guards.

i went to the best buy midnight launch in secaucus, nj. i sat around in the parking lot from 11:30 til 11:45 before realizing the line was forming in the back of the store. got in line at around the 10th spot. the radio station throwing a 'party' for the launch was packing up and had already given away an epiphone electric guitar to the first guy in line. i'm guessing he was the only guy there -- they said they got there at 10pm. by midnight the line had swelled up to 3-4x the size, but it still wasn't that long. doors opened after midnight, and i was walking back to my car by 12:10am..
first midnight launch i've ever attended and it seemed pointless and anticlimactic. i went bc i hadn't preordered the game and was worried since gh2 sold out so quickly for the 360. i dropped by target on sunday afternoon and they had tons of bundles for every system available. i feel like a complete tool.
never again

Got to go to the rooftop event... Awesome night, but it was interesting how 50% of the kiosks they had setup weren't loud enough... Guitar Hero without music?
Other awkward moment of the night: Jamie Kennedy wandering around with Activision people... I guess they've wiped the E3 Press incident away from their minds...

Argh, I'm picking mine up in an hour. I'm starting to twitch. I need me some rockin'. I wish I could just portal it to my house.

Fantastic my two favorite new shows (not to mention my fave from last year) pimping a game I don't play. I may have to get into it now.

I went to my local GameStop at noon on Sunday and picked it up for the Wii, and surprisingly they still had plenty left.
