Today's just-add-Wii video: Fan-made Goonies game

Take a glimpse into the easy process of creating a Wii game out of a licensed movie IP: just add gestures. Chris Cantoe follows this spoof-by-numbers approach with amusing results. Yes, this video may be a couple weeks old, but its source material -- The Goonies -- is timeless.
See the video after the break.

hey i saw an ad on yahoo messager saying CALL OF DUTY 4 DOWNLOAD THE DEMO does that mean the beta or is this a sign of a demo
gonk @ Nov 4th 2007 2:31AM
what? the game comes out in a few days. the beta was a couple months ago. it was good
ThornedVenom @ Nov 4th 2007 4:50AM
It means the demo (beta ended a while ago, and it was for multiplayer): I had played it a few weeks ago. It's not bad at all, it's just not my type of gameplay.
Basically, it only offers you single player on the first stage, and you have to run from point A to point B to follow the storyline, whilst getting rid of enemies in your way. Except that you're constantly under enemy fire (it's impossible to take all of them out because they somehow always come back, which was the main thing I didn't like about it, but that's just a question of personal taste).
Good graphics though, and nice presentation. And it was fun trying to get a jab at it in hard mode. Worth the try: I think you can find the file at FileFront.

haha, you got this from myspace. losers....
j/k!! j/k!!!
it was pretty funny and i wanted to be the first to say it. this makes me think that they could go the whole FMV route and make "movies" for wii with action sequences and failure scenes added in. then again, would it be any fun?
bm @ Nov 4th 2007 1:16AM
Dragon's Lair.
waynski1457 @ Nov 4th 2007 1:29AM
well i meant full on live action ala sega cd, but yes you are right. i consider myself owned.
ThornedVenom @ Nov 4th 2007 4:52AM
Didn't they make a Power Rangers game with live action scenes from the series (with limited colors) in which you had to time-press buttons at key action moments of the clips? (displaying a "B" button when one of the rangers was about to kick an alien dude's ass)

Thorned:
Yes, they did. It was awful, even by SegaCD FMV standards. They just took TV episodes and added in buttons, and if you didn't match it you just "failed" since there was no film of alternate paths.
Compare to Wirehead for SegaCD, which IMO was awesome. Cheesy but hilarious. With that actor from Batman Returns; the one whose nose the Penguin bites off, haha.

I can understand a console not being your cup of tea, but to go so far as to use the word hate?
That can't be normal.
