New 'No More Heroes' spots show off coconut, garbage collecting
Good times come February, friends. By then we'll have officially given up on our New Year's Resolutions, making way for more decadent, artery-clogging food, and Goichi Suda's bizarre, frightening No More Heroes will be hitting US shelves. No More Heroes releases on December 6th in Japan, and leading up to the launch the official site has been updated with a bevy of new videos.
The two highlighted here show the lead, Travis Touchdown, the most awesomely named character in any fictional construct to date, collecting the mundane -- garbage and coconuts. Who said being an assassin was all blood and body bags? Hit the jump for the second video.

A HUGE WTF?
samfish @ Nov 9th 2007 3:41PM
No More Heros moved up to my Most Anticipated 2008 Game a while ago. Yes, more so than Brawl!
It looks like buckets and buckets of pure, undistilled Awesome.
NaeemTHM @ Nov 9th 2007 3:47PM
Agreed. These 10 second trailers seriously kill me. The guy that thought them up needs some kind of award.
DonWii @ Nov 9th 2007 4:47PM
So true. This game is insane.
Gumbydunzeeto @ Nov 9th 2007 3:48PM
This is the first game that's made we actually want to buy a Wii.
umm....hello??? @ Nov 9th 2007 3:48PM
GARABAGE?? c'mon....that's in the title--huge print, how did you mispell it?? try "Garbage".
pockyninja @ Nov 10th 2007 5:02AM
Mario says "Gar-a-bage"
Ren @ Nov 9th 2007 3:59PM
I don't care what score critics give this game, it's going to be part of my collection no matter what.
flameofdoom666 @ Nov 9th 2007 6:17PM
Same.
Chrispy @ Nov 9th 2007 4:08PM
From the way they describe the way the controls work it sounds like a imitation game like 'heavenly sword'
However the GDC trailer does look awsome for this game. It's going to be adefinite hit for the wii.
The more games that dont try to make me fit, increase my brain-age or contain mario, the more chance nintendo has of getting me to buy a wii.

All they need to do is add a segment where I save kittens from trees and I'm sold.
magnus @ Nov 9th 2007 4:50PM
Although Travis Touchdown is a hilarious name, the best ever fictional character name is Lord Bane - Dark Horseman of Death.

Why is the coconut so heavy? Why is the coconut so heavy?!

No More Heroes is going to make a splash, but only if they move it back a few weeks into March
Being in the same month as Brawl will kill it, there is little question of that, March is when i will buy this anyway, even if they stick to the February date (doubtful, even if it weren't for Brawl, there has to be at least 1 delay in the mix)
WiNG @ Nov 9th 2007 5:47PM
Honestly I don't see what the appeal to this game is. It looks largely sophomoric and like it's just trying too hard to be edgy. Compare this to a masterpiece like Jet Set Radio, I dunno... this is just weak.
Guess how many minutes it will be fun to collect trash for? 12? 8?
gonk @ Nov 9th 2007 5:50PM
right, like someone with a sonic avatar will say something non-biased about a dreamcast game
LaughingTarget @ Nov 9th 2007 6:17PM
If this is sarcasm, use the /sarcasm because it generally doesn't translate well into text. If it isn't, did it occur to you that these could just jokes, not actual gameplay?
Me @ Nov 10th 2007 12:16AM
They're actual game play. The game has all sorts of odd jobs that you can do--at your discretion--to earn extra cash. And as for the "12? 8?" minutes remark, I imagine then that it's a good thing that you only have to do it for a few minutes, whenever you so feel like it.
WiNG @ Nov 10th 2007 12:27AM
Sorry I wasn't joking. It seems to me people just like this game cause it's weird. I have yet to see any gameplay that actually looks fun. It just seems like a bizarre beatem up with horrible voice acting.
rikimaru @ Nov 9th 2007 6:09PM
I loved Killer 7 because it was so weird and made me wonder if I was even playing a 'game' a number of times throughout. This looks way more accessible, but still definitely strange and frightening.

I haven't been this excited about randomness since Pikmin. Am I the only one who doesn't know when this is being released?
Geist @ Nov 9th 2007 9:47PM
How has no one mentioned God Hand yet?
samfish @ Nov 9th 2007 11:19PM
Oh, I was going to and how this game is about as close to God Hand 2 as we'll ever get, but I mention God Hand so often that people would probably minus me if I mention it anymore than I already do!
Of course, anyone who minuses someone for mentioning the greatest game ever needs their head checked, butI digress...
A [+] for you, sir, for mentioning the Greatest Game Ever.
ark_v2 @ Nov 10th 2007 12:17AM
This game looks awesome. And yeah, I love killer7.
Gambit @ Nov 10th 2007 1:26PM
This game is gonna be so full of win.
